I have an iPhone 8 which I keep inside an Otterbox Commando case. I once left it on my lap as I exited my truck, dropping it pin the concrete floor of the parking garage, where it was run over by some car. A passerby found it, texted my girlfriend using my message app, and brought it to the restaurant where I was having brunch.
It kept on working! Best of all, they replaced the case free.
Strongly agree with #10. Perhaps some smart cookie could invent something to tie them together so they are harder to lose.

I had an OtterBox on in it as well, but smacked it VERY hard against a sharp corner of cement. The touch screen quick working altogether.
